WretchWorks Arcade Pack Review

Grade: B

Four action arcade games with some unique flavor

Wretchworks Arcade Pack has four games, and they all have different flavors. Each one you could play for a few minutes apiece. As a collection, they are smoothly programmed with good controls and fair action. Each game ramps up over time until you eventually succumb to your enemies.

The standouts were “Really Unique Space Shooter” and “Cylor vs. The Endless Hordes.” Bullet Cell and Phantom Star were as passes for me.

Really Unique Space Shooter

First in the pack is a space shooter. You are lost in an alien galaxy and must fend off a horde of aliens. The weapons with varying types that you pick up made this one my favorite in the bundle. The aliens are pretty cute as well.

Bullet Cell

Next is Bullet Cell, where you’re a white blood cell fighting off the invading hordes of bacteria, viruses, and parasites coming into the host body. Unfortunately, the controls for this one are a bit wonky. It has a mechanic where you can “lock” to a single location, so as you circle, the cell gun stays trained unto a central point. This one, I never quite got the hang of.

Cylor vs. The Endless Legions

The art in the next game, Cylor, reminded me of a TTRPG game I’ve been trying “kill sector” (https://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/260647/Kill-Sector-Core-Rulebook) which embraces gladiatorial combat. Cylor can move around well, and you can use a shotgun or machine gun blast types to fight off the grubby monsters that spawn everywhere.

Cylor Vs. the Endless Legions

Star Phantom

Last and least is Star Phantom. You are trying to run into the asteroids and harvest them before the enemy does and avoid the enemy while you do it. It’s a wonky game, and I didn’t have much fun on this one.
