Spell Casting Review

Grade: C-

Tracing game where you’re pretending to cast spells

In Spell Casting Meowgically Enhanced Edition, you trace objects with your mouse as you practice “spells.”

It’s definitely a kid’s game. Perhaps a young audience might find it engaging. But, for me, it was not my cup of tea. Tracing something carefully with a mouse is torture documented in Dante’s Inferno, right?

I’m sure the game would be better with a touchscreen, but I didn’t have a spare iPad nor the motivation to sideload a custom app outside of the apple store.

The Verdict

I put down “Spellcasting” soon after the intro levels. In later levels, you are asked to memorize spell patterns and cast them within random dot assortments. That also sounds incredibly tedious.

But don’t let this review deter you from pursuing your spellcasting dreams. If this genre you enjoy, it’s a bug-free game with decent UI. Here’s the trailer, and the game is 100% free on itch.
