Hidden Folks Review

Grade: A-

Interactive where’s waldo style point and click scavenger hunt

Hidden Folks is a unique game with a clear vision. It’s an epic scavenger hunt on a black and white screen. Each piece of art is hand-drawn, and every sound effect you hear is “mouth” created.

What is a mouth-created sound? Here’s a sample from the official steam page where you can buy them! You get these gems vibrating across your eardrums as you click and interact with the screen.

Mouth Sounds are available for purchase on Steam!

Gameplay examples

Each scavenger hunt item that you search for has a clue that goes with it. So the early levels are straightforward, and it’s a quick hunt for the items.

Example of an early level

As you get to the later levels, the scale becomes absolutely mammoth. Where’s Waldo can’t hold a candle to Hidden Folks!

You don’t have to find every item, thankfully, just a percentage that unlocks the next level. So you can pick and choose which clues make the most sense.

This map is overwhelming and also very fun.

Another perspective

I asked my daughter (11) to play the game for a bit and see what she thought. I thought a kid’s perspective would be helpful.

From Genevieve: “I think this game is pretty funny. I like all the noises because instead of the normal noises, for example, a car, would be someone saying “beep!”. But, this game is very time consuming. This is because some of the objects are very hard to find. It sometimes starts to get annoying because you can’t find these certain items or people. Although this game may get annoying, this game is very calming. I’d say on a scale of 1 to 10, I’d say this game is a 7.”
