Engineer Arena Review

Grade: C

First Person Battle Arena Shooter.

Engineer Arena is a local combat arena game. You are a group of engineers, and you are testing and honing different weapons in a battle simulator. Each engineer can choose a pedestal avatar, and you can have whatever wacky top represent your style. A toilet, a ship, a pumpkin, a TV, whatever you want. I chose the toilet of course.

Choose your avatar.

The gameplay is on one of 5 maps. The game types are Deathmatch, King of the Hill, or Capture the Flag.

Straight Run and Gun

The game itself is pretty simple. You can have up to four people battling locally on a split-screen. As you move around the map duking it out, you can collect credits and get more powerful weapons. I played the multi-player with family and had a fun time battling it out.

Engineer Arena did have some goofy weapons. First, there’s a party popper grenade that makes a big explosion, and you hear a cheering crowd. Second, you could choose an Orber that makes a giant ball that bounces all around things. Also, you can pick up a traditional array of swords, shields, pistols, uzis, grenades, shurikens, knives, rocket launchers, and a few more things I forget.

Lack of full features

Engineer Arena seemed more like an Alpha pre-release game than something fully-fledged. For example, the multi-player was only possible over local co-op, and in single-player, all you can do is target practice. Unfortunately, the target practice mini-game wasn’t entertaining.
