Abomination Tower Review

Grade: C

Macabre 2D platformer climbing a tower as a headless zombie.

Abomination tower takes macabre and makes it cute. Your sprite is a headless zombie (but like the fast/agile kind, not the slow Walking Dead style). You were thrown in a hole by some mysterious person initially, and you’re trying to get out.

The gameplay is relatively simple, and you are platforming your way up the tower. The platforming challenges include spikes, monsters, spitters, and your standard wall jumps.

Abomination Tower has many obstacles for your headless zombie hero.

Overall, it’s a second-tier platformer. Specifically, my beef with this one is that the reset on death takes you wayyyyyy back, which isn’t fun/challenging. It’s frustrating and annoying. With procedurally generated levels, it’s at least a varied level design ahead of you when you get back to the beginning. After a few runs, though, you quickly start to repeat the screens.

Platforming gimmicks

If you collect eyeballs on your journey, you can get powerups. The first powerup was “save your butt,” and you run around with a butt on your headless zombie. The “save your butt” gives you a free hit. There are quite a few powerups to collect, but I only got to the first couple.

You collect Heads to your zombie when you collect eyeballs. You can pick one out to help you at the start of levels.

Abomination Tower was enjoyable for the first 30-45 minutes, but I got bored and left it at that and am moving on to other things.
