Record Store Nightmare Review

Grade: D

A pixelart arcade game where you throw music discs at zombies.

You are putting some records away when you hear explosions in the background. It’s your first day working at the record store, and now you have to deal with a horde of zombies.

Naturally, you start throwing albums and compact discs towards the zombies and defend your space. If one zombie touches you or a zombie gets past you, then it’s game over.

Opening credits gave me high hopes.

Zombie Record store gameplay.

After excellent opening credits, the gameplay itself didn’t click for me. Record Store nightmare is a 2D sidescrolling layout where you are trying to move up and down the record aisles and not run out of ammo. You only have six records you can hold at a time, and each zombie takes two hits, so that’s just three zombies you can defeat before a reload. If the supply is behind a zombie horde, then you’re screwed, and that’s that.

Record Store nightmare is not an arcade game I’d play again or recommend. However, if arcade games are your interest, there are some much ones in the racial justice bundle.
