Penguins Arena Review

Grade: C

Multi-player arena shooter, but with penguins and snowballs

Penguins Arena is a kids-focused first-person shooter. It’s like Halo or Call of Duty, but with penguins, 90s graphics, and snowballs instead of guns.

The goal is to push the other team off the iceberg, because global warming is slowly killing your species. You need to take care of your tribe first and shoving the opposing tribe into the ocean is the best short-term option for these penguins.

Gameplay is simple

There’s not much to the action. You can grab a few upgrades (see screenshot below) and then use snowballs to shove the other penguins off the iceberg.

The game owners created a 90s-style UI for multi-player that includes a LAN option or a web server. There are no active servers on the web, and all signs point to Penguins Arena being a ghost game that never gained popularity or an audience.

I played a few rounds, and it’s a perfectly pleasant game without any severe bugs. But there’s nothing to hook in the gamer, the graphics and gameplay are bland, and it’s not something I’d recommend picking up unless you want a gag game for a retro 90s LAN party with a keg of beer for a big group of friends.

I recorded a few minutes of gameplay and this is about all you need to see to get the gist of the game.
